Sunrise

December 15, 2011

The pattern for my Sunrise shawl is now available:

Silver Bells

December 10, 2011

I am totally into sparkling silver this Christmas.  I went for a walk with my kids last weekend and my daughter found some branches.  Then we headed to the store for some spray paint.

I first sprayed it with silver, let it dry for a few and then gave it a coat or two (or three) of sparkles (I love sparkles).  I found a flower vase buried in one of the cabinets, gave it a couple of coats of some sparkles as well and…….

…..wrapped a ribbon around it (I love Christmas ribbons).

My parents gave me this beautiful fabric for Holliday curtains:

The sewing job is very plain, nothing fancy or complicated going on there.  But to give a little more flair I glued pine cones and bells onto an old fashioned wooden clothing pin and attached it to the bottom of the curtains.   I like it.

I gave the pine cones the same treatment as the branches, some silver and sparkles (thought they don’t show well on this photo).

We put up the tree as planned last Monday.  My little guy loved doing his share, he did a great job:

I love how all little kids I have known always find a couple of branches and hang everything they can find on  just those (I always leave it just like that).

I have been knitting my days away, but have nothing to show right now………it’s getting there though!

Lights and knits and a baby boy

December 3, 2011

The plan is to wait till after the weekend to put our christmas decorations up so we can all do it together.   But after putting this wreath together today………well it was just too tempting so I flung it on our bedroom door.  It’s just ONE thing, and it’s so adorable and perfect and…..adorable.

I love lights during the winter months, be it candle lights or soft electric lights that give a warm and cozy light.  I have this one in the stairway:

I keep it on every night now that it’s gotten darker out at night.  Though it is not a christmas light, it does put me in the mood…….christmas mood that is;)

And, here’s what I’ve been knitting lately:

Perfect fall colors!

And my beautiful ”baby” boy:

I’m gonna go give him a squeeze and then get some more knitting done….

Fall colors

November 22, 2011

I went for a walk with my kids Sunday morning.  As always at this time of year there were piles of leaves everywhere.  On our way back home my eight year old son told me he was going to pick a few to bring home.  He chose the prettiest ones he could find, and then he gave them to me.  What a sweet heart! : )

The leaves look so pretty covering the ground, like a quilt in beautiful colors.  I love the colors of fall and I love this time of year!

I did cast on something new yesterday, no reds in there but still, it makes me think of those leaves, those beautiful fall colors.

Sweet things

And then there is sparkly, wooly wonder:

It´s a new day, it´s a new yarn

November 8, 2011

something I have never tried before:

50% alpaca and 50% silk from blue sky alpacas.  I saw it, picked it up and that was it for me, I could not put it back down.  It feels so soft and luxorious……I just had to try it.  It is delicious to knit with, the stitches look beautiful and it´s easy to work, feels like it sorta knits itself.  I can´t wait to see how my little ball of yarn turns out……..

Harvesting

November 3, 2011

This spring I planted some carrot seeds and I just pulled all the carrots out this morning.  I really don’t know much about growing veggies but I figured I’d give it a try.  I wasn’t even sure if now is the right time to harvest them, but it’s been getting pretty cold at night and it even snowed the other day!  So, I figured better safe than sorry…

They are small but taste delicious!  And, I love how excited my kids are to eat them:)

As I was pulling these babies out it made me think of this beautiful yarn that my mom brought me:

It’s Eingirni (Icelandic lace weight) and it looks good enough to eat……

Then there’s my little strawberry plant that almost died.  One little flower is growing now, I hope it manages to turn into a strawberry.
